Dr Alexandra Button is a Clinical Psychologist, EMDR Europe Accredited Trainer, and EMDR Europe Approved Consultant. Since qualifying in Clinical Psychology in 2006, she has worked exclusively with adults experiencing complex trauma across a range of adult mental health and forensic services.
Dr Button spent 15 years working within the NHS before moving fully into independent practice in 2019.
Alongside providing psychological therapy, EMDR consultation, and supervision, Dr Button delivers EMDR Europe Accredited training programmes, predominantly across the South West of England. She provides EMDR supervision and consultation nationally to therapists working in both NHS and independent practice settings, supporting clinicians across a wide range of services including physical health, psychosis, perinatal, forensic, and general adult mental health teams to name a few.
Passionate about developing the next generation of EMDR practitioners, Dr Button is actively building a supportive professional community that helps EMDR therapists progress from newly trained EMDR therapists through to Facilitator and Trainer level. Through training, consultation, supervision, and peer support, she is committed to fostering excellence, confidence, and connection within the EMDR community.
In keeping with her values of accessibility and social responsibility, Dr Button directs a substantial proportion of the income generated through training and supervision to fund free EMDR therapy for individuals who have been unable to access appropriate support through statutory services and who would otherwise be unable to afford treatment. In 2022-2023 she provided over £40k of free therapy and in 2024-2025 she provided over £20k. This commitment reflects her belief that effective trauma therapy should be available to those who need it most, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Dr Button has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of PTSD and complex trauma and is dedicated to promoting high-quality, evidence-based, trauma-informed practice.

Darren Button brings over 21 years of experience within the Defence sector, combining 13 years of military service with operational and project management expertise. During his military career, he served with both the Welsh Guards and the Royal Signals, developing strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills in demanding environments.
Following his military service, Darren transitioned into the Defence industry, contributing to several major IT and Defence projects. His experience across both military and civilian sectors has provided him with a unique understanding of operational delivery, strategic planning, and team coordination.
Since returning to the UK in 2021, Darren has dedicated much of his spare time to supporting the veteran community. As a peer support worker, he has worked closely with local military veterans, helping them access vital services and support networks. In 2022, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of Horses & Forces CIC, helping to create opportunities for veterans to recover from trauma and overwhelming life experiences through Equine-Assisted Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).
As Director and Operations Manager, Darren oversees the day-to-day operations of the organisation, ensuring that every aspect of training and service delivery runs smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest standard. His focus spans planning, coordination, and operational excellence before, during, and after each training, creating a positive experience for all participants.
Darren is deeply passionate about supporting others and is a strong advocate for trauma-informed approaches to recovery. He often says that he “absolutely loves supporting Dr Alexandra Button and learning about EMDR and psychology,” reflecting his ongoing commitment to professional development and helping others achieve lasting positive change.

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Europe Accredited EMDR Consultant. I have over 20 years’ experience of working with complex and enduring adult mental health conditions in NHS.
I took early retirement from the NHS over 5 years ago and threw myself into expanding my knowledge and practice of EMDR. Through supervision with Dr Button, I finally achieved Accredited Consultant status in 2024.
I currently work as an independent practitioner providing in-person clinics in Torquay and clinics online.
In my independent practice I treat psychological injuries caused by exposure to extreme stressful and traumatic experiences at any life stage. However, my specialist area of interest is working with developmental trauma. I am fussy when it comes to conducting specialist assessments of C-PTSD and of early attachment wounds for the purposes of diagnosis and individualised formulation and treatment planning. For me, EMDR represents a comprehensive and integrative approach to psychotherapy, offering the flexibility to incorporate existing therapeutic knowledge and skills within the eight phases. This enables me to integrate attachment-based therapies, cognitive schema therapy, ego states and many more within the 8 phases. To date, I have witnessed over two hundred clients benefit from EMDR psychotherapy in some form. Through supervision and accreditation, I hope to enable other therapists to experience this.

David is an EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant who has worked in the NHS for 30 years. He is also a BABCP Accredited CBT therapist and mental health nurse.

David currently runs the Traumatic Stress Service for Staff, which he set up in a large mental health NHS trust. He is also the lead for EMDR in that same NHS Trust and is based in Bristol. He also runs a small private practice in Bristol.
David started his EMDR training in 2008 and became an Accredited Consultant in 2017. He has extensive EMDR supervision experience in the NHS, in his private practice and also through pro bono supervision that he provides for EMDR therapists in Jordan for Trauma Aid UK.
David is currently the chair of the Near West EMDR Association Regional Group.
