Training requirements:
There shall be at least 8 weeks between training parts to allow for practice and supervision, according to regulations set out by the accrediting body, EMDR Europe.
Attendance in full at all training days and supervision groups is needed in order to receive the final CPD certificate of attendance. You are not permitted to leave early, e.g. for childcare reasons or appointments. You are also required to actively participate in every element of the trainings in order to receive your certificate of completion. Any elements of the training that are missed cannot be made up another time. Delegates arriving more than 15 minutes after the start time or leaving more than 15 minutes before closing will not receive CPD credits as they will not be considered to have attended the full training.
Delegates are required to use EMDR Therapy with a minimum of three clients over the duration of the 3 part training.
A key requirement of the training is to undertake practical exercises in the administration of EMDR. During these exercises delegates will be asked to work in pairs/triads on real issues under the supervision of an experienced EMDR Consultant/Facilitator. Delegates will both give and receive EMDR from other delegates. This ensures delegates appreciate the subjective experience of receiving EMDR, and provides valid training experiences for fellow delegates.
While we find that delegates value this opportunity, both as therapist and client, the experience for some can be unsettling and we would ask that you do not attempt to process significant traumatic experiences on the training courses. These practice sessions are for training purposes only and not for personal therapy. Your trainer/facilitator will advise regarding what experiences are more suitable to process on trainings.
You should be aware that it is not unusual for a distressing memory to be linked to other experiences that might surface during or after the practice sessions. By registering for training, you affirm that you have adequate emotional regulation strategies and resources and that you are capable of using these to manage distress both during and after EMDR trainings/courses. The same word of caution applies to exposure to the content of traumatic material during case consultation during the courses.
EMDR training courses also require you to watch full and in-depth video footage of real life EMDR sessions. Whilst this is a powerful experience to observe, for some delegates it can be triggering. By registering for Dr Button EMDR trainings; you are indicating that you understand that as a delegate you will be required to observe clinical footage of trauma processing, and that you will be required to process some distressing or overwhelming experiences of your own during the training. By signing up to the training you agree to take responsibility for your emotional wellbeing, and to ensure you have access to adequate emotional support during and following the training.
Delegates with physical/mental health conditions that may affect full participation in the course, should discuss their situation with the trainer prior to registering for training. Failure to disclose relevant health concerns that may impact full participation in the course, could result in dismissal from the training without refund.
By signing up to Dr Button EMDR Trainings or workshops, you agree to show respect to all other delegates and Dr Button EMDR Training staff at all times. Failure to do so may result in you being asked to leave the course with no refund.
Manuals and Certificates
You will be issued one manual per part of training. Replacement if lost will be charged at £20 excluding postage and packaging.

If attending an in-person this will be completed on the day. If attending online you will be emailed an electronic evaluation form and your certificate will be sent to you electronically on receipt of your evaluation form.
Since the trainings are accredited by EMDR Europe, we are required to request that all delegates evaluate our trainings. This is to ensure that we comply with EMDR Europe standards and that you are always provided with the most up to date and relevant training.
We can only provide a missing or replacement certificate up to 2 years post training date and we will only provide one replacement certificate per training/course.
We retain course attendance data and certificates for a period of three years from the date of completion. After this period, we do not store or maintain any data older than three years. By using our services, you consent to this data retention policy**
